Name: Adalberto Augusto Ronda Varona
Date of birth: 14 February 1945
He graduated as Bachelor of Social Science from the Ñico López National School of the Party in 1972. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Havana in 1973.
Further education: Doctorate in Philosophical Science, Moscow, 1980.
Career:
1966-1991: Professor of Philosophy, Chair of the Philosophy Department and the School of Social Science of the General Máximo Gómez Academy of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR, by its Spanish initials), Antonio Maceo Order.
1991-1999: Deputy Director of the José Martí Studies Center.
1999-2001: Deputy Director of the America Studies Center.
2001-2010: Director of the America Studies Center.
2003-2006: Member of the Executive Committee of the Regional Coordination for Economic and Social Research (CRIES, by its Spanish initials).
2004-2010: Executive Committee Representative of the Caribbean and Central American centers that are part of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO, by its Spanish initials).
2010-present: Director of the International Policy Research Center (CIPI, by its Spanish initials).
Member of the editorial boards of magazines “Honda” of the José Martí Cultural Society and “Ciencias Sociales” of the Philosophy Institute of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA, by its Spanish initials). He has played an important role as a member of Cuban delegations participating in international events. He has given lectures and participated in scientific conferences in Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Honduras, Nicaragua, Margarita Island, Spain, Iran, Italy, Bulgaria, China, Chili, Guatemala, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
He has received distinctions for his teaching and research work, including the National Culture Distinction, awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba.
He is specialized in the study of the philosophical thinking and ethics behind José Martí’s cosmovision, as well as in Latin American and Caribbean politics and international relations.

He graduated as Bachelor of International Relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russia, in 1980.
Further education: Master’s Degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM, by its Spanish initials), Mexico, 1995-1998. Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI, by its Spanish initials), Havana, 2000.

He has appeared as a guest commentator in talk shows that analyze international affairs, such as the Mesa Redonda, and on channels Telesur, Canal Caribe, and Cubavisión Internacional, and radio stations Habana Radio, Radio Habana Cuba, and Radio Rebelde.
