He graduated as Bachelor of International Political Relations from the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations in 1988.

Further education: Postgraduate courses on Cuba-US bilateral relations and the US foreign policy (ISRI, Havana, 1990-1991). Advanced Course on Tourism Management (National Tourism Institute, Havana, 1992-1993).  Upgrading course for middle-level diplomats (Rio Branco Institute, Itamaraty, Brasilia, Brazil, 1994-1995). XXIV Edition of the External Foreign of The Hague Academy of International Law, San José, Costa Rica.
