President of the National Assembly of The Gambia receives the Cuban ambassador

GAMBIA, February 22, 2018.- The Honorable Mrs. Mariam Jack Denton, President of the National Assembly of The Gambia, welcomed Cuban Ambassador Lázaro Herrera, with whom she had a fraternal exchange in her office at the parliament headquarter.

The meeting served to talk about the interparliamentary links, the role of the parliamentary friendship groups and the exchange of experiences in the legislative sphere.

In thanking the legislator for the opportunity to receive him in her office, the Caribbean diplomat said that his visit expressed the interest and willingness of the National Assembly of People's Power to strengthen ties of friendship with the Gambian parliament. He also highlighted the existence of about ninety parliamentary friendship groups in the Cuban legislative body, including the Cuba-Gambia parliamentary friendship group.

For her part, the Gambian parliamentarian reiterated her gratitude for the support Cuba has given the Gambia for several decades, especially in the field of health, and expressed her willingness to work for the increase of relations in the legislative field. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Gambia)
