U.S. blockade affects the work of the United Nations Development System in Cuba

The Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, highlighted today in the general debate on Item 26: Advancement of Women, that the island is proud to show tangible results in the advancement and empowerment of women and girls, having been the first country to sign and the second to ratify the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

The Ethiopian Surgery Society, in its 24th Annual Assembly that started today in Addis Ababa, granted Cuba the prize of the year, for its contribution to the development of the surgery service and the training of health professionals in Ethiopia. In a moving ceremony, the President of the Society Dr. Dereje Gulilat referred to the immense contribution of Cuban medical collaboration around the world, which has not only brought assistance to people in numerous parts of the planet.

he Honorable Tilak Marapana, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, received at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry the Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez. During the friendly meeting, both parties exchanged on issues of bilateral and multilateral interest.
