The Prime Minister of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Honorable Dr. Timothy Harris, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, at the seat of the Government of this brotherly country. The Caribbean Prime Minister welcomed the Chief of Mission, who begins a new period of work on this island. At the same time, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the signs of affection towards Cuba and renewed his interest in continuing to foster the ties that have historically united both nations.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, visited the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Premier of the island of Nevis, Honorable Mark Brantley, in his government offices in the island of Nevis. During the cordial meeting, after the expressions of welcome offered by the Foreign Minister, issues of the bilateral agenda of common interest were reviewed and the good state of the relations between the two Caribbean nations was ratified.

French trade unions to send solidarity cargo to Cuba

French trade unions affiliated to the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) plan to send to Cuba by late January a cargo of solidarity with food and other basic products, union leader Laurent Brun stated on Tuesday. In statements to Prensa Latina, Brun, who is also the secretary general of the CGT Federation of Railway Workers, commented that they have so far accumulated 80 tons of donations within the framework of the “Containers for Cuba” operation, launched in September along with a political campaign to denounce the US blockade against the island and its tightening.

President Katonivere conveyed greetings to the Cuban head of state Miguel Diaz-Canel and thanked Cuba’s contribution to the training of health professionals for his country, which has had a positive impact on Fiji’s communities, he said. The president made his statements during the presentation of credentials by the Cuban ambassador to the capital Suva Jose Manuel Galego.
